Bennett College May Lose Accreditation
One of the oldest and only historically black colleges for women may be closing soon. According to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges the school has until Feb 1, 2019, to raise $5.7 million or lose their accreditation.
The school has filed an appeal and will remain open through the 2019 spring semester according to the Bennett College FAQ page. If the Bennett College fails to raise the money it will file a lawsuit against the (SACSCC) which will allow the school to remain open during the legal process which could take up to two years according to the Bennett College FAQ Page.
